Roof pitch is the measurement of roof steepness. Roof pitch roof pitch refers to the amount of rise a roof has compared to the horizontal measurement of the roof called the run. If you want to build a shed garage or other similar type of building then 4 to 6 is a preferable pitch type. The way pitch also known as roof slope is measured is rise over run.
So if your roof rises 4 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal length then the pitch of your roof is expressed as 4 12.
