Fusion 360 Solid Convert To Sheet Metal

Hi all i m designing a laser cutter and have drawn everything up in fusion 360.
Fusion 360 solid convert to sheet metal. So often you extrude a shape and then wish you working in sheet metal mode. I want to get these laser cut and have to draw out a dxf for them. Sometimes hybrid modeling techniques prove to be the best way to complete sheet metal parts. When designing sheet metal assemblies it is often advantageous to create parts in the context of existing parts.
1 create a part with only 1 solid body flat pattern requirement 2 convert imported solids into inventor objects 3 set the sheet metal thickness to match the part steps. I would love for fusion 360 to bring this over from inventor. Let s show how to create sheet metal bends folds flange unfold flat pattern and more. Creating sheet metal components in autodesk fusion 360. I used to use inventor and that software had a feature that allowed you to convert an extruded shape to sheet metal. The goal is to create an actual physical product. 1 convert to single solid 2 get surfaces from the geometry 3 remove solids 4 thicken the surface 5 set sheet metal thickness 6 create flat pattern.
After all a company s goal isn t to just create shapes in a cad program. This was so helpful. As you create your sheet metal parts within the same file you will want to make them components instead of bodies since assembly joints cannot be placed between bodies. I ve drawn some brackets to hold members together.
Fusion 360 has released the sheet metal modeling environment.
